How will Her Majesty’s Government and University of the Arts London (UAL) improve ageing people’s independence, enable new skills and extend their working lives?

"It is great to have intO with us and I am looking forward to another Social Enterprise project for Joanna to lead."

Paul Sayers (Third-stage Lead, BA in Product Design)

Our approach
  • Collaborative approach
  • Market mapping
  • New product development
  • Opportunity mapping
  • Social innovation

intO’s collaboration with HM Government and UAL focused upon gaining a joint understanding of how the UK Government could incentivise those businesses seeking to support independence amongst the UK’s ageing population. This was to enable older people to remain in work for longer, by learning digital skills. intO conducted a review of the existing evidence to highlight the areas with the most potential, and organised a research project in collaboration with students studying for a BA in Product Design.

intO’s research findings formed part of a public exhibition, which attracted more than 25,000 visitors in one week. intO also designed an inclusive research process for use by Gov UK, Foresight UK and commercial stakeholders to explore future initiatives, and opportunities for design and development.
