Nameera Ahmed

Nameera is the Regional Lead for South Asia and Pacific at intO. She is a specialist in conducting on-the-ground qualitative research about challenging social issues. As a professional film-maker she communicates these insights through documentary films, which she plans, produces and directs herself. Her broad spectrum of skills, give Nameera many opportunities to come close to the diverse cultures of her region.

To communicate the stories and heroes of Pakistan is one of Nameera’s ambitions. She also seeks to be an advocate for women’s rights, education, environmental depletion and healthcare for citizens of rural Pakistan. Her activism is expressed through the environmental, educational, literacy, health and women’s-issue themes of her films, which have been screened in European, Asian and Middle Eastern countries.

Qualifying with a BA in Graphic Design at Bilkent University, Nameera has also gained an MA in Visual Arts and Visual Communication Design at Sabanci University. She is a member of the Professional Association of Diving Instructors (PADI) as a certified open-water scuba instructor. In addition, Nameera works with organisations such as Rotary International, Pakistan Fisher FolK Forum, Oxfam, APCF Foundation, Panos South Asia, and Nukta Art – a contemporary arts magazine in Pakistan. Nameera has lived in Turkey and is based currently in Pakistan. She speaks English, French, Turkish, Urdu, Hindi and Farsi.
