Joanna is the Founding Director of intO.

An expert in combining design research with social science and strategic innovation, Joanna specialises in turning cultural insights into design opportunities and business strategies, and matching specific research approaches to the unique objectives of any brief. 

Joanna leads intO’s central, strategic team (distributed across the UK, Germany, Poland, South Africa and Colombia) to orchestrate projects with intO’s 68 multi-lingual researchers who live in over fifty established and emerging markets around the world. Her leadership ambition is to achieve equality for all. As a mother of four children herself, Joanna has built a culture that champions flexible working and empowers and supports individuals to develop their careers while caring for their families. Her engaged and innovative approach to leadership fuels intO’s striking proposition and the success of its work. 

Besides her role at intO, Joanna is visiting professor at Anhalt University of Applied Sciences (Dessau, Germany) and a guest lecturer on MA Innovation Management at Central Saint Martins (London). Joanna has mentored at the London School of Economics and Zinc (an incubator for entrepreneurs addressing the toughest social issues), is a regular guest speaker at events (including TEDx, the BBC, Qual360, Service Design Days, Campus Party), has appeared on podcasts, and has written articles for Contagious, Inc. and LS:N Global publications.

After graduating with BA (Hons) Product Design at Central Saint Martins, Joanna gained an MSc Culture and Society at London School of Economics in sociology, anthropology and social psychology. She has worked as a brand-packaging designer at Tin Horse, and a Senior Design Researcher and strategist at Seymour Powell.

Joanna has lived in Poland, Germany, Ireland and the UK, and is based currently in Poland. She speaks English, Polish, German and Italian.
