Studio intO Wins Tech Impact Award for Ethical AI Leadership

We’re proud to announce that Studio intO has been awarded the 2025 Tech Impact Award for Ethical AI Leadership.

This recognition acknowledges our ongoing commitment to ensuring that artificial intelligence is designed with, not just for, people. And that ethical, equitable UX research plays a central role in shaping the future of intelligent systems.

A Framework Grounded in Reality

intO’s award-winning Equitable AI Framework was developed in response to a growing concern: that the world’s most powerful technologies are too often built on datasets, values, and assumptions that prioritise the dominant and overlook the diverse.

Developed through global research conducted in over 60 countries and shaped by lived experience surfaced through our 140-strong Local Researcher Network, the framework provides a practical structure for mitigating bias and embedding fairness across AI development.

Built around a triple-lens approach – combining user insight, internal evaluation, and expert recommendations – the Equitable AI Framework enables design and research teams to:

  • Identify gaps between AI intent and real-world impact
  • Centre cultural relevance and inclusion
  • Inform product decisions that are globally resonant, not just locally applicable

It’s already being used by teams at YouTube, Google and other leading tech companies to shape ethical practices, inclusive design, and scalable innovation in AI.

Why intO?

Our submission focused on the elements that set intO apart:

  • A decentralised research model that embeds contextual nuance into global projects
  • Deep partnerships with UX, innovation, and AI teams seeking to go beyond token representation
  • A culture of experimentation, care, and critical thinking, where ethical innovation isn’t an add-on, but a foundation
  • A vendor satisfaction score that reflects our impact on global product development
  • Case studies (like our YouTube Responsible AI Immersions) that show how we uncover the realities of how AI is perceived, understood, and used in very different cultural contexts

Recognition That Moves the Needle

Winning this award – just a little over one month after being named Best B2B Organisation by Women in Innovation (WIN) 2025 – means more than industry recognition. It validates a belief we’ve held since our founding in 2011:

That if you want to design for the world, you have to listen to it first.

As AI continues to reshape how we work, live, and connect, ethical UX research isn’t optional. It’s essential infrastructure.

We’re grateful to the Tech Impact Awards for shining a light on this work, and to our clients for their trust in intO as a strategic partner.

Together, we’re not just building better AI. We’re building better ways to ask questions, surface truths, and create technologies that have the potential to service all of humanity, and not just the few.
